After the massive avalanche of 2009 took out our beloved chair lift and a neighbors house the Holy Oly had to be held at Summit West. The Show last year was a good one but just wasn’t the same as good ole Hyak. This year the green light was given but now a new problem faced the Summit at Snoqualmie, LOW snow. Good thing they have a kick butt grooming department that went out in search of the goods and brought them back where they belong to construct the biggest 1/4 pipe possible. Success, snow riders (snowboarders, snosk8ers, and skiers) came from all around to throw down. Good times at Summit East again.

So Nick and I finally have all the gear we need to go Hiking, Needless to say, It was all well worth the money and time spent in class etc, etc. Special thanks to The Snow Troopers and Kathleen of White Pass for helping with this TR!

Today was the big day, The Summit brought the main event back to Summit East where it belongs! The QP was pretty amazing considering the work involved (pipe cutter had some technical difficulties). Lots of riders turned out to see the show, which was pretty rad, to me it almost felt like watching a nascar race though…..lots of wrecks and gnarly action!! A lot of big air and some big tricks thrown in, but one of the highlights had to be the skier’s that poached FOR GOLD!!! One word…..BUDDAFEWKO! Karter and myself wanted to give the Contour HD camera another test but in standard mode setting not HD. The down grading of quality when a vid is loaded to the internet vs the time to process the HD was brought to my attention by our friend Plinko. The first vid below is in std from yesterday and the other vid is from last week at Alpental and West. All of our other cams are out on assignment at the Winter games & White Pass so we might have to do a side by side test here in a couple of weeks.

Lindsay Vonn and Julia Mancuso took home the Gold and Silver yesterday. Others were not so lucky – the course was super fast and difficult with more turns and jumps than even the men’s course.  There were several bad crashes.  Hopefully we won’t see those bad spills today.  Check out Photos of the course here. We would’ve included our amateur home video clip from the race but apparently the Olympic Committee is too uptight about even a few seconds of video and prevented us from doing so. Ended the day with  dinner, wine and vodka tasting with Alberto Tomba and head of Lange, Roberto.  By the way, Lange has a hot new freeride boot coming this spring.

Super low snow pack, but the Summit at Snoqualmie happens to have a bad ass grooming fleet that has been pushin’ snow for a week now with one goal in mind. A HUGE 1/4 pipe for the Snowboarders to huck to the moon (snowboards only- another non diverse event in an Obama diverse era). Last year the Holy Oly was held at Summit West due to the massive avalanche that wiped out Summit East for the 08/09 season. Super stoked to have the event return to The Snow Troopers backyard. See you out there then the after party at Whiskey Petes located at Summit Central.

Just ran into our friend Jerry w/ Fall Line Productions tonight and he let me know of this vid that Karter, Cole and Myself helped out w/ last season.

The two vids below are old Snoqualmie Snow Trooper edits from the day filming w/ Jerry for Ski Washington and the day prior which was a day the Snow Gods gave us great powder, but also took the GREAT Shane McConkey from us.

Stoked to get follow cam of the Ladies on the wide open slopes last week of Manning Park, BC. Now that the grooming dept. has completed the training course for the Russian skier cross team getting video from the side in a few different spots would better ensure the love of skiing another day. Live to Ski Another Day and leave the wild stuff to the Pros.

Some pix from the races.  Bode won the bronze medal for USA!   Women’s downhill races are scheduled for today at 11am.

Took the new Contour HD cams for a test run or two last week and we liked the results. See what you think compared to the original cam “VholdR” that we have used on most of our prior vids.
