Great turnout for today’s Vertfest at Alpental. Congratulations to all the winners of the Monika Johnson Memorial Rally Race who endured not only a long uphill climb but also flat light and heavy snow all day long. By end of day, Alpental had received 13″ since 5am and it was still coming down. Forecasters are calling for another 13″ overnight.
Special congratulations to Andy and Mike Traslin who drove down from British Columbia this morning to race in the elite division (which requires 2 laps up and down Alpental). Andy and Mike finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with times of 1:47:45 and 1:48:03. They finished behind Seattle’s own Seth Davis who finished in 1:47:36. Congrats Seth! We’d also like to congratulate our friend, Melissa Park who came in 2nd in the women’s rec division. Here’re a couple of shots from today. We’ll post more pix, videos, race results and info in the days to come so please check back.

Thanks for the hospitality and lift tickets for the weekend.
Stoked to get the podium with the bro and finally get some
epic powder skiing at Alpental.
But very sad end to the weekend with the Tragic avalanches
my heart goes out to the families.
I wish they would have received the special avi bulletin from the CAA Canadian Avalanche Association called Tipping Point.
