The wait is over for WA skiers and boarders: Mt. Baker and Crystal have announced that they will open 9am this Friday. Snoqualmie’s Summit West and Mission Ridge are planning to open this weekend if conditions continue to improve (and it looks like they will). Baker will have both base areas and most chairs up and running. Crystal will have the gondola and Green Valley open on Friday and more over the weekend. With up to another 2ft of snow in the forecast for the WA cascades by Thurs. morning and more snow through Fri. (on top of what was already a good ski base – see post for Summit West conditions yesterday), these ski areas are looking at an epic opening deep powder day this week. The snow’s already falling big time so plan to call in sick or do whatever you need to do to get out there on opening day this Fri. We’ll be there and hope to see you there too. Viva la nina!
