Alpine races and training were cancelled again yesterday but More than a foot of fresh pow on top of the other foot or so made for some epic skiing at Whistler Blackcomb. It was like a party up there: all the racers and team were free skiing so every which way you loooked there was an amazing skier. I skied with ex-US ski team racers, Bryon Friedman and Erik Schloppy plus Mark Van Liere from EpicQuest/Chugach Powder Guides. We tried to synch with Chris Davenport too but missed him. Full on sun by the afternoon – top fully open. Lots of big cliff hucking – among them, friends John and Ethan Weibrecht (racer, Andrew’s bros) – will post video when I get a break – pix in the meantime. Last night’s Portillo ski resort party by housemate and owner of Portillo was a big hit. If you’re here, check out the venue: SNOW House (as in the new magazine published by friend, Barb Sanders) at the Westin. Now have to run cause the Downhill is ON today. Start time is 1030am and women will do their training run at 10am. Weather looking good for today. Go USA!! PS Big congrats to Hannah and Shannon for winning US Gold and Bronze in freestyle. Way to go!
