Wanted one more day out w/ the bros before the end of the holiday, so due to other engagements later in the day for all of us, a couple laps up Hyak was agreed amongst the 4 of us. super nasty conditions were found between 2,600′ and the Sumit of Hyak – New rain crust on top a couple inches of wet packed snow which sits on our New Year’s Eve 7/16″ death crust. We made our way up the face observing a couple of tele guys coming down on the sketchy conditions. At the top we decided only one lap for today and maybe some beacon work afterwards. We did go for the face also, worried about Trooper dog popping thru and screwing up his joints. Skied Lone Tree and then headed for the face to let Trooper run the skin track back down. At the Switch back we chose to keep it safe and take the groomer down the rest of the way. Note 5 inches of wet snow fell through out the day.
