Trip up to Glacier, WA to visit my good Bro Dale for our annual trip to the Baker Zone. Sun was in the forecast for day one, so a trip up to Heliotrope Ridge was the choice. Slept in til 8AM ate and took our time getting out the door hitting the trail by 10:30AM ( note that the low profile cars can make it about one half mile before the Heliotrope TH. We ran into John from the Glacier Ski Shop who showed us how you get up a BIG mountain and shred it then do it again and back to the shop just after lunch. We on the other hand took our sweet time and went for the most direct route to Heliotrope Ridge giving us a 3,000′ ski w/ conditions up top of blower wind packed pow to a thin crust to corn at the bottom. Super sweet day! Day two will be out of the Baker Ski area for some????
